  • “The Co-op is integral to the fabric of downtown. It’s the only full-service grocery store we have, and that makes it really convenient for a lot of people. The vibe of the people and the store in general is just good, too – it’s a place you want to be. The Co-op, and the things it stands for, helps define Marquette as this outdoorsy, nature-forward, artistic place. We love that we have the opportunity to personally invest in our community, support local, and contribute to a vibrant downtown.”

Tara & Chad McKinney, MFC Owners since 2007

  • "The benefit of special ordering – that to me is worth it in itself. (Working with the Co-op) allows Superior Culture to have a strong diversity in what we’re able to produce. Instead of buying hundreds of pounds of the same thing, I get to do a bunch of small batches with items I find at the Co-op. I spend a lot of time in the produce section just staring at things trying to get inspired by new flavors."

Alex Rowland, Superior Culture, Owner since 2015

  • "We originally became members because we wanted to connect with the community, and we saw the Co-op as a connection that aligned with our values. It’s important to know that the Co-op does a lot behind the scenes, aside from selling groceries, like cultivating access to good food in a place where it’s a challenge, teaching kids how to make healthy food they like, helping set agricultural standards, starting a living wage discussion here in Marquette, and committing to sustainability and smart energy use. The Co-op brings people together and serves the community – it’s so important and meaningful."

Jenn Hill & Andrew Dalian, Co-op Owners since 2014

  • "We fully understand the cost of eating well. The Co-op’s prices may appear more expensive, but we feel like that cost offsets a lot of the other true costs. We’re looking at the big picture every time we shop. What does it cost to the people who have produced the food? What’s the environmental cost? What’s the social cost? What’s the economical cost? We’re programmed to see the price tag cost only, and yes, we try to keep that lower too by buying things on sale and on owner special. But we try to not be so short-sighted. We have to eat, everyone has to eat. So, when given the choice, where are you going to spend your precious dollars? The Co-op is affordable for just about everyone if done wisely and with intention. Shopping here is how we take care of the people and places around us."

Jennifer & Mike Tapolcai, MFC Owners since 2008

  • “Nothing is better than walking into our food co-op and seeing local produce, flowers, meats, and other goods from farmers you know and love! We feel good spending our money at the Marquette Food Coop because we know they are putting such priority on facilitating local food relationships. They are the glue between a lot of farms and customers, always willing to put new locally produced products on their shelves and showcase all the great local choices.”

    — Trevor & Maria Case (Case Country Farm), Co-op Owners since 2017

  • "This town has a tremendous opportunity to do some really cool, innovative things with food. We want to see that growth and hope to see the Co-op continue to cultivate relationships with local farmers. The more we can support them, the better our local food system becomes. We want to honor this earth and this place specifically with our choices, and we can do that with food. Food is the foundation. Supporting places like the Co-op makes us feel like we’re doing our part."

Austin Fure & Aurelia Hunter, Co-op Owners since 2012

  • "It's wonderful to see the front end staff interact with our daughter, and for them to know her and truly care about her. She's very shy and takes a while to warm up to people, so it's wonderful to see her have these close relationships and thrive here. She insists on sending our Christmas cards to the employees and always says she wants to make a special trip to 'see her friends at the Co-op.'"
