Product Recalls

Unfortunately, recalls are a fact of life. While we do our best to minimize the amount of product recalls by working with trusted companies and distributors, it’s impossible to avoid entirely.

At the MFC, product recalls are implemented when a formal recall has been issued. Our staff learns about product recalls by receiving notification from our distributors or product manufacturers. Our vendors are told to report any problems with a product as soon as they are known.

After learning of a product recall, we initiate a multi-step process involving staff is several departments to ensure quick and effective communication, prioritizing the safety of customers. We immediately remove the product from our shelves and discard/destroy it. We pull records of the sale of the product and contact each person individually (that we have contact information for) to notify them of the recall. We also post a recall notice on our website, seen below.

  • Product: So Delicious Dairy Free Cashewmilk Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert, Salted Caramel Cluster

    Reason for recall: Possible presence of foreign materials, such as small stones and other hard objects, within the cashew inclusions

    Items at MFC affected:

    Salted Caramel Cluster flavor | UPC 744473476138

    Affected purchase dates: Best Buy date of on or before April 3, 2028

    Action: All inventory pulled from the shelf on September 16. MFC owners who have purchased it in the last 90 days have been contacted and notified directly.

    What customers should do: If you did purchase affected product from the Co-op, please do not consume the product and discard it immediately.

    • If you consumed the product and feel unwell, contact your local health department.

  • Product: Everything Sprouts Organic Salad Blend Sprouts

    Reason for recall: Possible E. Coli or Salmonella

    Items at MFC affected:

    Organic Salad Blend Sprouts | UPC 860010311882

    Affected purchase dates: Last 14 days, August 7-21, 2026.

    Action: All inventory pulled from the shelf on August 21 and destroyed. MFC owners who have purchased it in the last 14 days have been contacted and notified directly.

    What customers should do: In the unlikely scenario you did purchase affected product from the Co-op, please do not consume the product and discard it immediately.

    • If you consumed the product and feel unwell, contact your local health department.

  • Product: Skinny Dipped Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites

    Reason for recall: Undeclared peanut allergen

    Flavors at MFC affected:

    Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites | Lot codes B25361, B35360, B35361

    Affected purchase dates: Best Buy dates 12/26/26, 12/27/26

    Action: The MFC’s staff did an inventory check of the product on our shelves and they do not match the affected lot numbers and best buy dates. Product was returned to the shelf.

    What customers should do: In the unlikely scenario you did purchase affected product from the Co-op, please do not consume the product and discard it immediately.

  • Product: Spring & Mulberry Chocolate Bars

    Reason for recall: Potential salmonella contamination

    Affected purchase dates: April 11 - May 11, 2026

    Action: Affected product has been removed from Marquette Food Co-op shelves and destroyed. MFC owners who have purchased it in the last 30 days have been contacted and notified directly.

    What customers should do: If you have purchased a product from the affected lot numbers above, please do not consume the product and discard it immediately.
